The MHASD Transportation department is dedicated to the safe and timely transportation of your student(s). Please watch the short video below from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation YouTube channel and help us in educating our community on how to react when you see a school bus on the road.
Thank you for your help.
General Information
The district's transportation responsibility will be limited to ONE pick up and ONE drop off location. Families who have varying schedules have a responsibility to provide their own transportation for children when schedules vary from the above rule. Advance notice, by Wednesday of the preceding week, must be given to alter a student's schedule for the upcoming week.
For students residing within the Village of Mount Horeb:
Transportation is offered to students in grades 4k - 5 with no fee.
Transportation is offered to students in grades 6-12 with a $200 per family bus fee. This fee will be waived for 6-8 grade students residing in unusually hazardous areas recognized as such by the Department of Public Instruction, click here to view a map of the bus fee areas within the Village. The bus fee is also eligible for waiver if family income meets the free or reduced meal income requirements and a waiver request form is completed and approved.
For students residing outside the Village of Mount Horeb:
Transportation is offered to students in grades 4K-12 with no fee.
Pick up/drop off locations must have a passable in-drive and adequate turnaround.
Students residing in concentrated population areas will be expected to walk to central locations. These include students from Blue Mounds, Pine Bluff, Daleyville, Klevenville and Mt. Vernon, as well as other areas immediately adjoining the Village.
For 4K students:
Transportation for 4k students will be provided if requested. Students will be picked up and/or dropped off at their residence or nearest bus stop. All 4K mid-day routes will be door to door (or as close as possible) stops. A parent, guardian or other deemed responsible adult must be present and in view of the driver at the residence or bus stop. The district will not allow the drop off of a 4K student without the presence of a specified adult. If a specified adult is not present more than two times, district transportation may be revoked.
Bus Routes
Click HERE for a list of AM and PM bus routes. The times listed are approximate, please have your student out at their stop 5 minutes prior to the listed time.
Please note: Bus routes are always subject to change.
If your child rides a van route, please contact the Bus Garage for pick-up times.
Temporary (one time) Transportation Change
The district will allow for a temporary (one time) change in ridership provided space is available on the bus and the request is to an existing stop on an existing route. To request a temporary change, a BLUE NOTE must be filled out per student, per day. The number of additional riders will be limited to 3 riders per bus on any given day. If you submit this form for a route that has already reached the maximum additional riders, we will contact you right away.
The following routes are currently NOT eligible for temporary changes: Elephant - Giraffe - Horse
For safety reasons, 4K students are NOT eligible for temporary changes.
The district reserves the right to deny any such request.
Permanent Transportation Change
For a PERMANENT change in your student's transportation, please submit a request HERE. Your request will then be reviewed by the Transportation Department. Any change in transportation potentially impacts other families, so it may take up to three (3) days to take effect.
Please note: The district's transportation responsibility will be limited to ONE pick up and ONE drop off location.
