Availability and Access
The Mount Horeb Area School District is committed to supplying all students with access to a device to support student learning. The type of device and level of access depends on grade level and availability.
Grades K-2: Students have access to iPads and Chromebooks within the school building throughout the school day. Staff will reserve classroom sets as needed. Each classroom will have enough Chromebooks for small group usage.
Grades 3-5: Students have access to Chromebooks within the classroom throughout the school day. Each classroom has enough devices to assign one Chromebook to each student; these devices will remain in the classroom and will not be taken home.
Grades 6-12: Students have access to Chromebooks throughout and beyond the school day. Each student is assigned a new Chromebook in grades 5 and 9 which will remain with that student through grades 8 and 12 respectively.
Device Insurance Information
The insurance for a student's device is provided through the assigned Chromebook Insurance Fee assigned to all students, Grades 6-12.
If there is a problem with your assigned chromebook, please take it to your Library Media Specialist in your school building so the problem can be assessed. If repair is needed, a plan will be worked out or a replacement device may be issued. If you need additional support or have further questions, please complete a district tech ticket and a representative from our District Technology Department will follow-up with you within 24 hours.
Damage & Repair/Replacement Fee Schedule
Similar to textbooks, if a device is negligently damaged or lost while assigned to an individual student, that student and/or family may be responsible to cover the cost of the device repair or replacement. To avoid these charges, please make sure the Student Chromebook Insurance fee is paid for your student in Grades 6-12. The District will decide whether a device was damaged due to student negligence or accidental care.

The below damage and fee schedule is provided for families that have not paid the assigned Chromebook Insurance Fee. Device damage fees due to negligence will be assigned in the student's Infinite Campus Student Fees account which can be viewed via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

*There will be a $20.00 minimum assessed on all replacement/repairs. Prices are subject to change without notice.
