Employee Referral Program

The Mount Horeb Area School District values the strong connections within our staff community and encourages employees to help bring talented individuals to our team. Our Employee Referral Program rewards staff for referring qualified candidates who are successfully hired into eligible positions.

Eligibility

All MHASD employees are eligible to participate except administrators, Human Resources staff, and managers with hiring authority over the referred candidate.

Eligible Positions

Referral bonuses apply to regularly scheduled and substitute positions. Temporary, summer, co-curricular, and current or former district employees are not eligible for referral bonuses.

How It Works

  • The referral must be made after the job has been posted and before the candidate is hired.

  • To qualify, the referring employee must submit the Referral Form to Human Resources at the same time the candidate submits their application through WECAN.

  • Only the first employee to refer a candidate will be eligible for the bonus.

  • The referral must be the candidate’s first point of contact with the district.

  • All candidates are evaluated based on the district's hiring procedures and the position qualifications.

Payment Details

Referral bonuses of $100(subject to applicable taxes) are paid in one installment after:

  • The new employee has been active on the payroll for six (6) months, or

  • A substitute has completed 20 days of work within six (6) months of hire.

The referring employee must be actively employed by the district at the time of payment to receive the bonus.
